Beyond the Hospital: Adventure & Pursuit

While my professional life is dedicated to the heart, my personal life is fueled by the pulse of the great outdoors and a relentless curiosity for the world. I believe that peak performance in the clinic requires peak recovery in nature.

The Great Outdoors

Born and raised in Colorado, I find my greatest clarity at high altitudes.

  • Mountaineering: I have summited 16 "Fourteeners" (peaks over 14,000 ft) globally, including Mt. Kilimanjaro and expeditions in the Andes.

  • Backcountry Skiing: I average 30+ days a season in the backcountry, finding rhythm in the descent.

  • Mountain Biking: Navigating the technical trails of the Front Range and beyond.

  • Scuba Diving: As a PADI Certified Rescue Diver, I explore the 70% of the world that remains underwater.

Athleticism & Endurance

Competition and discipline are the cornerstones of my daily routine.

  • Triathlons: Currently training for my next event, balancing miles on the road bike, the treadmill, and in the pool.

  • Collegiate Sports: A former competitive collegiate athlete in both Tennis and Squash.

  • Golf: An avid golfer who appreciates the mental discipline and evening strolls of a well-played round.

Global Exploration

Travel is my primary source of perspective. Having explored 38 countries, my worldview is shaped by the diversity of human experience. These travels—from metropolitan hubs to impoverished rural villages—are what ultimately fueled my Dharma to serve as a physician.

Culinary Arts

I view the kitchen as a laboratory for global culture. I love to unwind by exploring diverse cuisines—recreating the flavors of Italy, France, Vietnam, Ethiopia, India, and Thailand from my home in Colorado.
